2013-02-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — Today, Danish liquorice brand Lakrids by Johan Bülow opens the doors to its popular universe of liquorice at Copenhagen Airport. The many types of liquorice – now set to travel around the world from CPH – are all made from high-quality ingredients.
With the opening of the Lakrids by Johan Bülow shop at CPH, travelers can look forward to gourmet experiences of the finest Danish kind. The shop, situated between Terminals 2 and 3, is Johan Bülow’s first stand-alone airport shop.
“Liquorice has a special place in most Danish hearts – especially when Danes travel to other countries, where good liquorice is hard to find. Lakrids by Johan Bülow has become a strong Danish brand in no time; exactly the kind of ‘local hero’ we want to offer our travellers. The airport is Denmark’s window to the world, and the journey through Copenhagen Airport should offer a taste of the best our country has to offer. For international travelers, liquorice is an obvious choice of souvenir or gift for friends and family at home,” says Carsten Nørland, VP Sales and Market at Copenhagen Airports A/S.
Teaching the world to love liquorice
The liquorice adventure began on the small Danish island of Bornholm in 2007. Already then, Johan Bülow dreamt of elevating liquorice to the level of a gourmet experience and imagined himself stirring the pot of boiling liquorice and letting customers smell and taste the magical qualities of the mighty liquorice root being combined with carefully selected ingredients. The journey towards what was to become the world’s first and only liquorice boiling house was not without bumps, but today Lakrids by Johan Bülow is sold in the company’s own shops, specialty shops, wine shops, designer shops and in selected hotels – places where world-class quality content and design matter. The opening of the shop at Copenhagen Airport marks a new chapter in the history of liquorice:
“Our vision is to teach the world to love liquorice. Not just the sweet kind, and not just the salty, but the full range of taste variants liquorice offers as a spice. This makes the location at Copenhagen Airport an obvious choice for us, and we look forward to sharing our ‘black’ gourmet experiences with travellers from both Denmark and around the world,” Johan Bülow says.
