(PRESS RELEASE) FRANKFURT, Germany, 2026-Feb-27 — /Travel PR News/ — Fraport AG and Condor have announced that the airline will relocate its Frankfurt Airport operations to the new Terminal 3 starting in summer 2027, a move that highlights their long-standing partnership and shared commitment to strengthening Frankfurt’s position as a major international aviation hub. The transition will allow Condor to operate from the airport’s newest terminal facility, supporting the airline’s future growth while contributing to the continued development of the Rhine-Main region.
Terminal 3 represents one of the largest privately financed aviation infrastructure projects in Europe and is designed to accommodate rising passenger volumes while improving service quality and operational efficiency. By establishing operations in the new terminal, Condor aims to benefit from modern facilities that support reliable operations and an improved travel experience, while reinforcing its long-term presence at Frankfurt Airport.
The relocation forms part of Condor’s broader development strategy following recent investments in fleet renewal and brand modernization. Operating from Terminal 3 is expected to provide the airline with the infrastructure required to support expansion and operational stability in the coming years. The move is scheduled to coincide with Condor’s 70th anniversary, underlining the airline’s long-term commitment to Frankfurt as its primary hub.
As Germany’s main international gateway, Frankfurt Airport plays a central role in connecting the country with global markets and supporting economic activity across the Rhine-Main region. The addition of Terminal 3 will increase capacity and strengthen the airport’s competitiveness among global aviation hubs. Condor’s continued growth at Frankfurt is expected to contribute to employment and value creation across aviation, tourism, and related industries.
Terminal 3 will incorporate advanced passenger-handling technology and streamlined processes, including modern check-in facilities, automated baggage services, and CT-based security screening. The terminal will also offer digital services, improved apron access, intuitive wayfinding, and short walking distances designed to improve passenger convenience. Comfortable waiting areas and lounges will further enhance the travel environment.
The new infrastructure has been designed with strong environmental standards in mind, supporting the aviation sector’s long-term sustainability objectives while enabling efficient and stable operations.
The planned relocation reflects a shared strategy by Fraport and Condor focused on modern infrastructure investment, long-term growth, and reinforcing Frankfurt Airport’s role as a leading European aviation center.
Frankfurt Airport’s Terminal 3 completed its construction phase in September 2025 and is scheduled to be officially inaugurated on April 22, 2026, with operations beginning on April 23. Final preparations include installing security checkpoints and finishing retail areas, lounges, and food outlets, while trial operations with around 8,000 test passengers are running through April 16. Between April and June 2026, 57 airlines will gradually relocate from Terminal 2 in four phases. Initially, Terminal 3 will handle up to 19 million passengers annually through Piers G, H and J, with the option to expand capacity to 25 million passengers by adding Pier K. The €4 billion development is Europe’s largest privately funded aviation infrastructure project and includes extensive passenger facilities such as 112 check-in counters, CT-based security screening, more than five lounges, and 64 retail and dining outlets. The terminal complex covers 176,000 m² with total floor space of 403,000 m² and incorporates advanced infrastructure including the Sky Line people mover linking all terminals, a large parking facility with 8,500 spaces, improved road access, and expanded public transport connections.
