(PRESS RELEASE) NORTH BETHESDA, Md., 2024-Jan-9 — /Travel PR News/ — Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH), a leading global lodging franchisor, has been recognized as one of America’s Most Responsible Companies for 2025 by Newsweek and Statista. This prestigious accolade highlights U.S.-based companies making a substantial positive impact worldwide, with selections based on 30 key performance indicators and a reputation survey conducted among over 26,000 American consumers.
“We are deeply honored to be named among America’s Most Responsible Companies,” said Megan Brumagim, Vice President of Upscale Brands and Chief Sustainability Officer at Choice Hotels International. “This recognition affirms our dedication to creating a more sustainable and impactful future. We continue to focus on making a positive difference in the communities we serve, while empowering our hotel owners to advance their own sustainability efforts.”
Choice Hotels’ commitment to sustainability is reflected in its Room to Be Green program, which operates across five key areas: Energy, Water, Waste, Biodiversity, and Engagement. This program ensures that all Choice-branded hotels adhere to strict utility data reporting and implement water, energy, and waste-saving measures globally.
Earlier in the year, Choice Hotels was also awarded the inaugural 2024 World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Award in the Leading Sustainable Technology category for its installation of the innovative CarbinX technology at the Radisson Blu Mall of America. In partnership with CleanO2, Choice Hotels became the first hotel in the world to implement CarbinX, a small-scale carbon capture device that captures CO2 emissions from water boilers. This technology reduces carbon emissions by 6-8 tons annually and cuts natural gas consumption by up to 20%, while also generating a valuable byproduct, pearl ash, which can be repurposed to produce soaps and detergents for the hotel industry.
In addition, Choice Hotels received the PACT Freedom Award in 2024 for its leadership and pioneering efforts in combating human trafficking.
