2012-10-22 — /travelprnews.com/ — Attendees of the Hershey Story’s book signing and discussion can meet the authors of “Chocolate as Medicine.” From 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, Philip Wilson and Jeffrey Hurst will discuss their newly released book “Chocolate as Medicine: A Quest over the Centuries.” Wilson is a professor of medical humanities at Penn State College of Medicine and Hurst is a principal scientist at The Hershey Company.

The book describes the centuries-long quest to uncover chocolate’s potential health benefits. The authors trace ancient beliefs, such as chocolate preventing heart ailments and relieving snakebites, to more recent experiments aimed at determining chocolate’s effectiveness as a medicinal and nutritional substance.

The program is free and books will be available for purchase at The Hershey Story.
