(PRESS RELEASE) Hong Kong, China, 2024-Jan-9 — /Travel PR News/ — Cathay Pacific is set to expand its global reach with the launch of direct flights between Hong Kong and Rome, starting on June 5, 2025. This seasonal service, which will operate three times per week during the summer, marks the airline’s 12th European destination and brings the airline closer to its goal of reaching 100 global destinations by 2025. The Hong Kong-Rome route will be the second direct connection between Cathay Pacific’s home base and Italy, complementing its existing service to Milan, which will increase to daily flights this summer.

Rome, known for its rich history, iconic monuments, museums, and churches, offers an attractive destination for travelers. The timing of Cathay Pacific’s return to the city aligns perfectly with the 2025 Year of Jubilee celebrations, a special event held once every 25 years by the Catholic Church. The Jubilee will feature a series of events in Vatican City and Rome, making it an exciting time for travelers from Asia seeking to visit the Italian capital.

Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer at Cathay Pacific, commented, “Our connection to Italy dates back nearly 40 years, when we first launched direct flights to Rome in 1986. We know our customers have been looking forward to this return, and we are excited to offer a direct route to one of the world’s most historic cities. Whether visiting for business, leisure, or the Jubilee, we are eager to welcome passengers aboard to enjoy our renowned service.”

The Rome flights will be operated by Cathay Pacific’s Airbus A350-900 aircraft, offering passengers fully flat beds in Business Class, spacious seating in Premium Economy, and comfortable options in Economy.

The flight schedule (subject to approval and change) is as follows:

  • Hong Kong to Rome (June 5, 2025 – October 25, 2025)
Flight CX293: Departure 00:45 (Monday, Thursday, Saturday), Arrival 07:50
