2013-08-27 — /travelprnews.com/ — The beginning of August saw the start of extensive renovation and maintenance works on runway 25R/07L. A major taxiway that abuts this runway had to be completely renovated and the existing runway lights were replaced by LED lights.
Initially, the runway works were scheduled to end tomorrow night 24 August. However, due to the close supervision of the construction site, the excellent collaboration between the various contractors, the perfect execution of the works and the sunny weather, works will be finished a day earlier. This means that as of tonight 23 August runway 25R/07L will be available again to air traffic. The runway may even reopen as early as 5 pm. As from that moment the normal flight distribution plan will apply.
During the works, Brussels Airport gave detailed information on the actual runway use both for the daytime and night-time hours, through twitter as well as by electronic newsletters.
A dedicated website was created with information about the works themselves.
