British Airways The Opening Gambit

2012-11-19 — /travelprnews.com/ — Heathrow Terminal 5 features in the new Coen brothers film Gambit, released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland this Wednesday – 21 November.

Cameron Diaz, Colin Firth and Alan Rickman are cast in the comedy caper, which features famous British locations including British Airways home Terminal 5, The Savoy, Syon House and Compton Verney art gallery in Warwickshire.

In the film, private art curator Harry Deane (Firth) devises a finely crafted scheme to con England’s richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar (Alan Rickman), into purchasing a fake Monet painting. In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Diaz) to cross the pond and pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of World War II.

British Airways is featured in the film, alongside its airline ambassadors – a team of colleagues working across the airline, used for promotional activity.

British Airways ambassador Helena Flynn, who also doubled up as Diaz in a number of the airport scenes, said: “We get to do a lot of fun and interesting events as ambassadors, but spending a week in the shoes of Cameron Diaz has to be one of my highlights. We all really enjoyed working with the team and can’t wait for it to be on board flights for customers to enjoy too.”

BAFTA award winner Sir Tom Courtenay, Golden Globe winner Stanley Tucci and Academy Award winner and veteran comedienne Cloris Leachman round out the cast.

British Airways, is proud airline partner of BAFTA.
