British Airways hosts ‘Flying Start’ reception to celebrate its raising £14 million for Comic Relief

 

London, 2016-Nov-15 — /Travel PR News/ — A roll-call of stars, including Clare Balding, Gary Lineker, Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright attended British Airways’ ‘Flying Start’ reception last night (Thursday, November 10), to celebrate the airline raising £14 million for its charity partnership with Comic Relief.

Held at the prestigious BT Tower in London, the evening was hosted by presenter Clare Balding, with some of the airline’s customers, fundraisers and charity partners in attendance. Celebrities and guests’ experience of the evening can be seen on social media, using the hashtag #FlyingStart.

British Airways’ director of customer experience, Troy Warfield, said: “We are extremely proud to reveal that we have raised £14 million for Comic Relief over the past six years. This is down to the kindness and generosity of our customers and colleagues and tonight’s celebration is a great opportunity to celebrate their achievements.”

Flying Start is the airline’s global charity partnership with Comic Relief, which aims to raise money to help disadvantaged and vulnerable children around the world.

Michele Settle, Director of UK Campaigns and Brands at Comic Relief, said: “British Airways has been a fantastic partner raising £14 million over the past six year, through a variety of fundraising initiatives from celebrity gigs in the sky and setting Guinness World Records to colleague events and challenges. The support of British Airways and its’ customers has been invaluable in helping people living incredibly tough lives. Thanks also go to another of our fantastic partners, BT, for lending their support to tonight’s event.”
