Muharraq, Bahrain, 2017-Sep-25 — /Travel PR News/ — Under the patronage of His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, a ceremony to mark the launch of Bahrain Airport Company’s Tahleeq 2 capacity building programme was held at the Grove Hotel. The ceremony was attended by Tamkeen’s Chief Executive Dr. Ebrahim Janahi and Bahrain Airport Company Chief Executive Officer Mr. Mohamed Yousif Al-Binfalah along with a number of officials from the Ministry of transportation and telecommunications, Tamkeen and Bahrain Airport Company.
The event initiated the intake of 20 new university graduates into the second edition of the programme, which is being held in association with Tamkeen and follows Tahleeq 1, which was introduced in 2014. The Tahleeq initiative aims to develop young Bahraini graduates by providing them with the skills needed to work in different disciplines required by the ongoing Airport Modernization Program (AMP), an ambitious national project which aims to transform BIA into a facility that is at par with Bahrain’s leading position within the industry. Tahleeq 2 will help the graduates become future leaders at BIA by providing a platform for their educational and professional development in the aviation industry.
On this occasion, His Excellency the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications said: “The Tahleeq initiative is a major part of the Kingdom’s strategy to train and build highly skilled aviation personnel that will supplement the industry’s growth and development plans including the Airport Modernization Program. By developing the aviation sector’s national talent pool, we will be able to shape future leaders that are fully qualified and equipped with the necessary skillsets within specialized aviation fields. We will need to maintain this talent pool of competent individuals if we are to reach our full potential as a nation and become major players at the forefront of the aviation industry.”
From his side, Tamkeen CEO, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi stressed the importance of Tahleeq programme in supporting, training and developing local Bahraini talents in various disciplines which comes under Tamkeen’s core business objectives of developing human capital, within the transportation industry, specifically the aviation sector. Tahleeq program comes In line with the airport modernization programme which aims to support the local economy by enhancing the airport capacity and keeping pace with the growing demand for air traffic in the region.
Tamkeen’s support for the second edition of Tahleeq program coincides with achieving the strategic development priorities of the kingdom and in response to fulfilling the expansion needs of the operations at Bahrain International Airport. He also stated that the program’s first edition have succeeded in providing Bahrain Airport Company with young Bahraini Talents, to be able to work with all the experts in implementing the airport project.
BAC Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah said: “The aviation sector will continue to play a key role in shaping the Kingdom’s connectivity and its economic growth and development. We recognize the impact that these development programmes will have in on a new generation of aviation professionals within our industry, and we are committed to implementing Tahleeq as one of our primary long-term initiatives. We plan to continue our strategic partnership with Tamkeen and explore further areas of our business that can benefit from this collaborative framework over the next few years, to fill roles in various segments of the airport’s operations.”
A memorandum of understanding was signed between Bahrain Airport Company Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mohamed Yousif Al-Binfalah and Tamkeen Chief Executive, Dr. Ebrahim Janahi regarding Tahleeq programme second edition.
The first edition of the programme trained 20 graduates over a two-year period, providing them with practical experience, and placing them in various specialized sections within the airport, mainly in the Development and Technical, Airport Operations, and IT teams. This year the graduates will benefit from multi-layered developmental activities such as core aviation modules, a soft skills programme, on-the-job experience, exchange visits, and professional certifications.
BAC is the authority responsible for enhancing BIA and increasing the airport’s contribution to the local economy in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030. In its operational role, BAC is responsible for elevating the airport’s operations, infrastructure and services. This is set to improve BIA’s capabilities and cater to the growing number of passengers as well as the changing demands of stakeholders.
