(PRESS RELEASE) Vienna, Austria, 2023-Dec-28 — /Travel PR News/ — The year 2023 ends with a pleasing operating performance for Austrian Airlines. Despite ongoing geopolitical restrictions, Austrian Airlines was able to build on its already very good performance in 2022 and even surpass it in 2023.
“Austrian Airlines is one of the most punctual airlines in Europe and was not only able to maintain this in 2023, but also improve punctuality even further. Regularity was also increased and 99% of all Austrian flights were operated as planned last year. At the same time, Austrian Airlines continued to modernize its fleet this year and expanded it with four A320neos. This is an excellent result and proof of the reliability of air travel from Vienna to the whole world. The trust of our passengers is also reflected in the booking figures: compared to the previous year, around 25% more passengers relied on Austrian hospitality and flew with Austrian Airlines in 2023,” says COO Francesco Sciortino.
Austrian Airlines at the top of Europe
In 2023, Austrian Airlines exceeded the previous year’s level and achieved a regularity rate of 98.9%. Punctuality was also further improved to around 80%. Austrian thus remains one of the most punctual airlines in Europe. After ranking 5th among the most punctual airlines in 2022, Austrian Airlines was permanently among the top ranks in 2023 and was even ranked 1st in Europe for three months. “In the coming year, the focus will be on the introduction of our first Boeing 787 and the associated growth on long-haul routes. We will continue to strive to be one of the top performers among European airlines,” emphasizes COO Francesco Sciortino. “With this modernization push, we are offering our guests state-of-the-art aircraft and also reducing our carbon footprint. A key lever here is the modernization of our fleet. This year we have started to renew our short and medium-haul fleet and are currently in the middle of taking delivery of our fifth A320neo. At the same time, we are preparing for the start of the modernization of our long-haul fleet in 2024. With around 2.5 liters of fuel per passenger per 100 kilometers flown, we will reduce fuel consumption by 20% compared to our current long-haul aircraft!”
