Auckland Airport welcomes the opening of Percy, a new eatery at The Landing
Auckland, New Zealand, 2020-Jan-29 — /Travel PR News/ — Auckland Airport’s fast-growing business park is welcoming one of Auckland’s top cafe operators, with the opening of Percy, a new eatery at the heart of The Landing.
Percy is operated by the experienced team behind some of Auckland’s best eateries; Woolfy’s, Newbie, Scout, the recently opened Fields café, and shortly, Commercial Bay’s SkyBar.
Percy is located within a new landmark building designed by RTA Studio Architects and is perched on a waterfront site in the heart of The Landing Business Park – Auckland Airports award-winning business park located just off George Bolt Memorial Drive.
“This is an amazing site that called for something special, and we set out to lift the bar in terms of the standard of architecture, environment and the F&B offering available to both our customers and our community.” says Mark Thomson, General Manager Property at Auckland Airport.
“The Landing is one of New Zealand’s fastest growing business precincts with more than a 1000 people working here and thousands more in the surrounding airport precinct. Today’s opening provides our community with a fantastic eatery.
Operator Roger Liu says Percy is all about providing an exceptional and inviting space for people to meet and catch up over great food and drinks.
“We love this site and are excited to bring this concept to The Landing. Across all our openings, we’ve tried our best to fit seamlessly into the community and are looking forward to serving people who work in and around The Landing, as well as visitors to the airport precinct.
“As we’re also located so close to Auckland Airport, Percy is an ideal place for people visit after touch down in Auckland or the last stop they make before saying farewell.
“We’ve designed our menu to reflect the best of New Zealand’s flavours and produce, but at the same time, putting our signature contemporary spin on the classics. Our menus are familiar but fresh – come see for yourself – we’re so excited to meet you all.”
And the name Percy? It’s a nod to New Zealand’s aviation history. The Percival Gull G-ADPR was the aircraft of choice for Rotorua-born aviatrix Jean Batten when in 1936 she became the first person to fly from Britain to New Zealand. Her Percy is on display in Auckland Airport’s international terminal.
