Andrea Gates and Avi Haksar Appointed new Managing Directors at iconic Dallas Properties

Dallas, Texas, 2013-06-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — Rosewood Hotels & Resorts is pleased to announce the appointment of new Managing Directors at both of the company’s iconic Dallas properties, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek and Rosewood Crescent Hotel. Andrea Gates joined Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in March, and a month later Avi Haksar joined the team at Rosewood Crescent Hotel.

“Individually, both Andrea and Avi have a talent for recognizing luxury and cultivating exceptional service, and I’m thrilled to have them in Dallas, the birthplace of the Rosewood collection,” said Radha Arora, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts president. “But I’m especially excited about the united force they represent in the city. They’re Rosewood’s Dallas power couple!”

With 40 years of combined hospitality experience, Gates and Haksar are poised to lead Dallas’ top luxury hotels into even greater success. While Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek and Rosewood Crescent Hotel vary in style and scale, Gates and Haksar know that there is strength in numbers, and two are more powerful than one.

“This is sibling rivalry at its best,” Gates said. “We’re competitors, but at the end of the day we answer to the same parent – Rosewood – and we work together to achieve a business mix that is best suited for our guests.”

With a background in hotel operations, Gates is a seasoned Rosewood Hotels & Resorts veteran, most recently serving as Managing Director at Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Prior to Santa Fe, Gates served as hotel manager at The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, the collection’s iconic art deco property in Manhattan. But Gates began her Rosewood journey at the Mansion in 1992 as Rooms Director, a post she held for 14 years. Under her leadership, the Mansion garnered many awards and established itself as the standard of luxury hospitality in Texas.

“Rejoining the Mansion family is like coming home, and in many ways I feel like I never left,” Gates said.

Haksar was most recently Hotel Manager at the Four Seasons in Bangkok, Thailand. Prior to Thailand, he spent four years at Four Seasons Los Angeles. He also previously served as Director of Beverage at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas where he directed multiple dining outlets, including L’Atelier and Joël Robuchon. A culinarian at heart, Haksar has opened numerous restaurant concepts, including Diego, Shibuya and Centrifuge bar.

With almost two decades of hotel experience, Haksar developed a passion for hospitality at Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Switzerland.

“I am thrilled to join Rosewood Crescent Hotel and to combine forces with Andrea for an even stronger Rosewood presence in Dallas,” Haksar said. “The Crescent is a special property with strong community ties, and I’m convinced that our continued success in the market will be driven by delivering exceptional guest service at every level.”

Once a private residence, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek was dramatically transformed into a restaurant and hotel more than 30 years ago, and it still serves as a luxurious home-away-from-home for leisure travelers and a romantic retreat for special occasion guests.

Rosewood Crescent Hotel was added to the Rosewood collection five years later as an urban counterpoint to the Mansion’s residential sensibilities. With impressive architecture, the Crescent now anchors Uptown Dallas and serves as an elegant hub for business travelers and arts patrons.
