Amadeus appoints Leon Herce to lead the retail segment of its Travel Channels business

MADRID, Spain, 2018-Jun-08 — /Travel PR News/ — Amadeus announces that it has appointed Leon Herce to lead the retail segment of its Travel Channels business. Herce will also assume a regional leadership role responsible for the Travel Channels business across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Herce will replace Joost Schuring who is leaving Amadeus to become CEO of Otravo, the Netherlands-based online travel agency specializing in tickets and packages.

Herce, who is based in Madrid, joined Amadeus from AT Kearney in 2004, has a wide breadth of finance and commercial experience within Amadeus. His senior roles have included commercial distribution in Asia Pacific and Vice President of Travel Channels in Latin America and the Caribbean. He is currently responsible for the Corporations segment in the Travel Channels business. A successor for this role will be announced shortly.

Schuring will leave Amadeus in July, working with his successor to ensure a smooth transition to new leadership.

Decius Valmorbida, President of Travel Channels at Amadeus, said: “Joost has made a significant contribution to Amadeus in his time here but we’re pleased to see him move to such an exciting role. It’s great to have Leon to replace him. His experience working closely with our customers in Latin America and Asia Pacific gives him excellent insight for this new role, and we’re confident he will deliver for our customers.”

Leon Herce, now EVP of Retail Travel Agencies, Travel Channels at Amadeus, said: “The retail travel agency experience is a unique one where the human touch can make a traveler’s journey that little bit better. From small and medium sized agencies to tour operators and large networks and consolidators, these customers are an important group for Amadeus. I’m excited to work with the thousands of retail travel agency customers to deliver the content and technology that will successfully grow their travel business.”
