Washington DC, 2017-Jul-09 — /Travel PR News/ — The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) unveiled a new website this week, clearedtodream.org, which serves as a comprehensive resource for anyone looking to become a professional airline pilot. The website, launched by ALPA’s Education Committee, continues the Association’s long-standing “Cleared to Dream” initiative of providing aspiring aviators with the tools necessary to become airline pilots.
“With strong, long-term industry hiring forecasts, it’s a great time to be a professional airline pilot. ALPA volunteers work year-round promoting our profession and serving as mentors to those who are preparing for the airline industry. We look forward to expanding our outreach and engaging with future generations of pilots through this one-of-a-kind website,” said First Officer Mark Haley, ALPA’s Education Committee chairman.
The Cleared to Dream initiative focuses on outreach activities that mentor aspiring aviators at the college and university level, as well as bring ALPA pilots into primary and secondary schools. Pilot volunteers across the country participate in community and industry events throughout the year to encourage students of all ages to consider careers as professional airline pilots.
ClearedToDream.org contains information and engaging activities for students in grade school through college, including aviation-themed flashcards, stories from line pilots, steps for becoming a pilot, scholarship information, job leads, and more.
“For over 85 years, ALPA pilots have helped encourage and inspire individuals of all ages to consider joining our profession. Through today’s Cleared to Dream initiative, ALPA pilots lead interactive discussions about flying and life as an airline pilot as well as age-appropriate activities and lesson plans in classrooms and at events. These and other efforts help ensure that everyone who is interested has access to the tools necessary to launch their piloting careers and join the ranks of ALPA members,” added Haley.
Founded in 1931, ALPA is the largest airline pilot union in the world and represents over 57,000 pilots at 33 U.S. and Canadian airlines. Visit the ALPA website at www.alpa.org or follow us on Twitter @WeAreALPA.
