Allegheny County Airport Authority Charitable Foundation now accepting applications for grants

PITTSBURGH, 2016-Oct-04 — /Travel PR News/ — The Allegheny County Airport Authority Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, which was established in 2013 with a mission of enhancing the experience of travelers at Pittsburgh International and Allegheny County Airport, is now accepting applications for grants.

The Charitable Foundation, which conducts annual fundraising events including airport 5K races, golf outings and other community activities, disperses grants to organizations advancing its mission and in support of the following focus areas:

  • Facilitating the comfort of current military service personnel and veterans utilizing the airports
  • Enhancing airport spaces through art and cultural displays
  • Engaging with communities around the airports to help in areas of educational and social need, such as scholarships and workforce development.

Applications are being accepted through October 31, 2016, and will be awarded in December.

“Over the past three years, we have been working to establish our Board of Directors, policies and procedures and an operating structure for the foundation’s future success,” said Foundation Board President Cindy Shapira. “We are pleased that we are now ready to move forward with awarding grants to deserving organizations in our communities.”

To apply for grants from the ACAA Charitable Foundation, an organization must provide services that benefit communities in and around Pittsburgh International Airport and Allegheny County Airport, and preference is given to projects and programs that respond to an unmet need.

The Board of Directors of the ACAA Charitable Foundation meets quarterly to review applications and determine funding.
