A Changing Travel Landscape IHG Greater China Reflects on 2025 With a Multi-City Gala

(NEWS) SHANGHAI, China, 2025-Dec-17 — /Travel PR News/ — IHG Hotels & Resorts Greater China has wrapped up 2025 with its annual IHG Gala, a multi-city year-end gathering that brought together corporate clients and long-term partners across the region. Rather than a single showcase, the event unfolded simultaneously in several locations, reflecting both the scale of IHG’s China operations and the increasingly fragmented ways people travel for work and leisure.

This year’s gala focused on how travel experiences shift depending on purpose, pace and place. Guided by the theme “20 global hotel brands, 6,600+ destinations,” the event moved away from traditional presentations in favour of immersive storytelling. Guests were taken through a sequence of environments inspired by different travel moments — from winter getaways and wellness-focused retreats to business meetings, social encounters and everyday journeys. The approach highlighted IHG’s positioning across a wide spectrum of travel occasions rather than any single brand or segment.

The gathering also served as a platform for IHG to outline how it plans to support travellers and corporate partners in the year ahead. Updates were shared around IHG One Rewards, including a points promotion allowing members to earn double points on stays between January and March 2026 after their first qualifying stay. For corporate bookers, IHG Business Rewards introduced a separate incentive offering triple points on eligible stays, meetings and events across Greater China, with bookings required by early March 2026 and consumption extending through August.

Speaking at the event, Rita Jiang, Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer of IHG Greater China, pointed to shifting expectations within the Chinese travel market. She noted that travellers are increasingly looking for flexibility, efficiency and consistency across different trip types, from business travel to family holidays. Jiang also highlighted digitalisation and sustainability as ongoing priorities, referencing efforts to improve operational efficiency while advancing low-carbon practices across the portfolio.

As IHG looks ahead, the group said it will continue to deepen collaboration with corporate clients and partners, with a focus on enabling smarter, more adaptable and more sustainable travel solutions. The 2025 gala, positioned less as a celebration and more as a reflection point, underscored IHG’s intention to remain closely aligned with how travel in China is evolving.
