SAS Unveils Record-Breaking Summer 2025 Schedule, Expanding to 278 Routes and 23 Million Seats
(IN SHORT) SAS is launching its most extensive summer 2025 traffic program yet, expanding its network to 278 routes and increasing capacity to 23 million seats—an increase of 2.2 million seats from last year. The new schedule, primarily departing from Copenhagen, adds key destinations such as Madrid, Budapest, Krakow, Lyon, Wroclaw, and Nuuk, and introduces intercontinental routes to Seoul, Seattle, and Beirut, with additional services from Oslo and Stockholm. This expansion further reinforces Copenhagen Airport as a critical global hub and is complemented by a significant boost in domestic connectivity in Sweden. Henrik Winell of SAS emphasized that the new routes and increased capacity will offer travelers unparalleled access across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East while supporting the airline’s commitment to sustainable travel.
(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 2025-Apr-2 — /Travel PR News/ — Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is set to boost connectivity throughout Scandinavia and beyond with its summer 2025 traffic program, further solidifying Copenhagen Airport’s status as its global hub. The airline has unveiled an extensive expansion plan that now encompasses 278 routes for the season, reinforcing SAS’s pivotal role in linking Northern Europe to destinations around the world and offering travelers more efficient and convenient options.
This summer schedule represents the airline’s most ambitious international expansion yet, providing a total of 23 million seats—up 2.2 million from last year. New and enhanced routes include stops in Madrid, Budapest, Krakow, Lyon, Wroclaw, and Nuuk in Greenland, with most flights departing from Copenhagen. Additionally, there are frequent connections from Oslo, Stockholm, and other Scandinavian cities. The schedule also introduces exciting intercontinental services: four weekly flights to Seoul, five weekly flights to Seattle, and three weekly departures to Beirut from Copenhagen along with two flights from Stockholm. Stockholm will debut direct services to Reykjavík and Bodø, while Oslo will offer daily flights to New York (JFK) and weekly services to Rhodes, and Bergen will see two weekly flights to Malaga.
The expansion further cements Copenhagen Airport as a key international hub. In Sweden, significant investment in domestic routes has led to a 54% increase in flights, with the launch of new routes in Halmstad and Kalmar earlier this year, solidifying SAS’s position as the main carrier offering the most comprehensive connectivity across both domestic and international markets.
Henrik Winell, Vice President Network at SAS, commented, “This summer program is a major milestone for SAS, marking our largest expansion ever. By introducing 28 new routes and increasing our capacity to 23 million seats, we’re delivering unparalleled access to destinations in Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East. At the same time, we continue to strengthen Copenhagen’s role as a top-tier global travel hub.”
Furthermore, SAS is increasing flight frequencies on several popular routes—including Toronto, Berlin, Florence, and Prague—to offer 70% more connection opportunities across 122 destinations served from Copenhagen. The new summer routes reflect SAS’s commitment to sustainable travel as it continues to modernize its fleet, enhance operational efficiency, and expand its global network.
