Spanish Under-19 football champions now in Madrid

In a special flight that landed at 15:30 h, after leaving Tallinn, Estonia almost three and a half hours earlier

2012-07-23 — /travelprnews.com/ — Iberia again had the honour to bring a victorious Spanish football team home two weeks following the Spanish national side’s winning of the European Cup. On this occasion it was the under-19 side, which also won top European honours in its category. Iberia was pleased to be the airline chosen for this honour by the Royal Spanish Football Federation, and it congratulates the team for its sixth European title.

At 15:30 h. Iberia’s A-319 “Vencejo”, registered as EC-KOY, reached the company’s hub in Terminal 4 of Madrid-Barajas airport, after a three-and-a-half-hour flight from Tallinn, Estonia.

The Vencejo, the Spanish’s name of the bird known in English as the swift, joined the Iberia fleet in 2008. Like other Iberia aircraft, it was named for a local endangered species as part of a campaign to raise consciousness over the threats to Spain’s rich biodiversity.

Meanwhile, Spain’s under-21 national football side, which will take part in this summer’s Olympic Games in London, is using Iberia for its domestic flights to and from practice games.
