August Wilhelm Henningsen to succeed Dr Klaus-Juergen Juhnken as Chairman of the Flughafen Hamburg GmbH Supervisory Board

HAMBURG Germany, 2015-9-28 — /Travel PR News/ — After more than 13 years as Chairman of the Flughafen Hamburg GmbH Supervisory Board, Dr Klaus-Juergen Juhnke is standing down at the end of September 2015. He will be succeeded by August Wilhelm Henningsen, former Chairman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Technik AG.

Dr Klaus-Juergen Juhnke joined the Supervisory Board of Flughafen Hamburg GmbH on 1 September, 2002, and became Chairman of 30 September, 2002. The former Director of Logistics at Preussag AG in Berlin and Hanover played a decisive role in shaping the development of northern Germany’s largest airport. During his term of office, he guided the HAM 21 Expansion Programme, which included the construction of the Airport Plaza, Terminal 1, and the Airport Hotel. As Chairman of the Supervisory Board he led the airport on the path towards the significance and attractiveness it has today. Dr Klaus-Juergen Juhnke will be leaving the Supervisory Board of Flughafen Hamburg GmbH with effect from 30 September, 2015.

With his expertise he will contribute to equipping Hamburg Airport for the challenges that lie ahead.”

On 1 October, 2015, August Wilhelm Henningsen will join the Supervisory Board of Flughafen Hamburg GmbH, taking on the role of Chairman at the same time. Henningsen departed active working life in April 2015 when he retired from his position as Chairman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Technik AG in Hamburg. He began his career as a Systems Engineer with Lufthansa in 1979. After fulfilling various management positions, he was appointed as General Manager of Ameco Beijing in 1997, where he remained until being called to join the Lufthansa Technik Executive Board in 2000. He led this aviation group, with around 26,000 employees in 30 different companies worldwide, as Chairman of the Executive Board from 2001 to 2015.
