
Wizz Air’s New Base in Yerevan to Offer 1.2 Million Seats Annually and Expand Regional Connectivity

(PRESS RELEASE) YEREVAN, Armenia, 2025-May-9 — /Travel PR News/ — Wizz Air, Europe’s most environmentally sustainable airline, has announced the opening of a new base in Yerevan, Armenia. This strategic expansion, starting October 2025, will provide passengers with eight new routes to six countries and secure Wizz Air’s leadership in Armenia’s aviation market.
With two state-of-the-art Airbus A321neo aircraft stationed at Zvartnots Airport, the airline will offer direct flights to Bari, Bucharest, Hamburg, Naples, Nice, Memmingen, Paphos, and Prague. In addition, Wizz Air will increase the frequency of flights to Dortmund from two to four weekly flights. The total expansion will result in 1.2 million seats being offered annually to and from Yerevan.
This new base in Yerevan is the 34th base in Wizz Air’s network, contributing significantly to Armenia’s economy by creating 100 direct jobs in aviation, as well as indirectly generating about 800 jobs in associated sectors. The airline’s arrival has already transported over 2.2 million passengers since its initial operations in Armenia in 2020.

With the arrival of the Airbus A321neo, Wizz Air continues its commitment to sustainability, as the aircraft features a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, alongside a 50% reduction in noise footprint compared to previous aircraft models.
