(PRESS RELEASE) BUDAPEST, 2025-Jul-22 — /Travel PR News/ — Wizz Air, Romania’s largest airline, is celebrating a landmark moment in Iași: more than 8 million travellers have now flown with the carrier to and from Iași International Airport. This accomplishment, achieved after over a decade of continuous operations at the airport (flights began in December 2014 and the base opened in July 2016), reinforces the company’s promise to keep air travel convenient, affordable and dependable for the region.
Across these ten years, Wizz Air has evolved into the go-to option for Iași residents who want low fares without compromising on quality, all while supporting the Romanian economy, boosting tourism and creating aviation jobs. The celebration took a personal turn for the lucky 8,000,000th passenger—arriving from Milan Bergamo to Iași on July 22nd—who was greeted right on the apron and gifted a €100 Wizz Air flight voucher.
Wizz Air’s commitment to Romania stretches back to 2006, when the airline first entered the market. Investment has increased year after year, positioning Romania as a key pillar in the company’s network. For the 2025 winter season, Wizz Air is selling seats on 21 routes from Iași to 13 countries, including popular cities such as Memmingen, Dortmund, Venice Treviso, Milan Bergamo and Bologna.
