Hong Kong, China, 2014-8-12 — /Travel PR News/ — After ten years at the helm of Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong as Regional Vice President and General Manager,William Mackay is leaving his beloved “home,” and will take on the position of Senior Vice President, Hotel Operations – Asia Pacific for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.
A true hotelier in every sense of the word, William’s career is evocative of Four Seasons commitment to excellence. Since the Hotel’s opening in 2005, William has brought the luxury hospitality brand to life in Asia’s World City – Hong Kong. His extraordinary 30-year journey with Four Seasons has seen him moving between a wide span of properties, from the genial coastal breezes of Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach to the historical courtyards of Four Seasons Hotel Milano. William has worked for Four Seasons in seven countries and three continents. His new role at Four Seasons Corporate Office in Singapore will be his 10th Four Seasons posting, a role which will continue to see him drive Four Seasons values within all the properties in the region and champion the company’s uncompromising quality in existing hotels and resorts, and with new Four Seasons properties as the company pursues an active expansion plan in the region.
William’s departure from Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong will not be an easy one – William leaves a lasting legacy of exceptional stewardship and enduring relationships with one of the world’s finest hotel teams, cultivated over the past decade, always believing that a great guest experience can only be delivered by confident, committed and skilled employees. His strong leadership and steadfastness to deliver only the finest product paved the way for multiple accolades throughout his career. Under William’s leadership, in 2010, Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong was the first hotel in the world ever to be awarded three Michelin stars for two restaurants under its management – both the Cantonese and French restaurants Lung King Heen and Caprice, an enviable position the Hotel enjoyed for four consecutive years. This year, Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong was one of only three properties worldwide to receive the prestigious Forbes Travel Guide Quadruple Five-Star Awards for the Hotel, the Spa, Caprice and Lung King Heen.
Volunteerism and community engagement have been top priorities for Four Seasons, driven by William’s strong belief that hotels need to be involved in the communities in which they do business. The Hotel actively supports local charity causes through Four Seasons Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Charity Campaign, raising funds for Community Chest and Hong Kong Cancer Fund. On a personal level of commitment, William is on the boards of the Hong Kong Tourist Board (where he has also chaired the Staff and Finance Committee), as well as the Hong Kong Hotels Association, and Music for the Growing Mind.
With his promotion to the senior operations leadership role based in Singapore, William is passing the baton to another Four Seasons veteran, Christoph Schmidinger, who will assume the position as Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong. Prior to the move to Hong Kong, Christoph held the position as Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel New York, where he has steered the Hotel in becoming the leader in luxury hospitality in New York City. In his 21 years with Four Seasons, before his current posting in the Big Apple in 2004, Christoph was the General Manager at Four Seasons properties in Chicago, Atlanta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta.
