Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 2013-02-04 — /travelprnews.com/ — Travelport, the business services provider to the global travel industry, and RAK Airways, one of the flag carriers of the United Arab Emirates, have announced an enhanced new partnership to benefit Galileo and Worldspan-connected travel agents around the world.
Building on the participation agreement signed at the end of last year, RAK Airways has upgraded its contract with the GDS operator to a global Full Content Agreement giving Travelport customers full access to the carrier’s inventory of flights and fares.
Under the new deal, RAK Airways has also extended E-Ticketing functionality to Travelport connected agents in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and Nepal.
In addition, RAK Airways will work with Travelport to promote their routes via the innovative Sponsored Flights advertising channel.
“This new agreement is a testament to Travelport’s commitment to provide our customers with the richest possible airline content,” said Will Owen Hughes, Senior Director Global Distribution Sales and Service for Travelport in the Middle East and Africa. “Working with flag carriers is a key part of our business strategy and this enhanced agreement demonstrates the trust that RAK Airways has in Travelport’s global reach and ability to take their business to the next level.”
A RAK Airways spokesperson said: ‘Under this new arrangement with Travelport, RAK Airways will benefit from significantly enhanced functionality and a reduction in unit cost. This agreement was possible because of the impressive volumes of business brought to Travelport, since our cutover in September 2012.”
