Created in response to rising demand for privacy, emotional connection to place, and experiential luxury, St. Regis Estates aims to reinterpret the Astor family’s legacy of grand estate living for a contemporary audience.
The new tier will highlight properties selected specifically for their architectural character, natural surroundings, and longstanding cultural resonance. The concept blends a home-like intimacy with large-scale landscapes, integrating culinary and cultural programming tied closely to local traditions. Each estate will emphasize slow travel, discreet service and thoughtful storytelling, echoing the Astors’ tradition of country estates where leisure, nature and refined simplicity converged.
The first property to adopt the designation will be The Resort at Pelican Hill, A St. Regis Estate, set to debut in 2027 on Southern California’s Newport Coast. Spanning over 500 acres of coastal hills, olive-lined pathways and sweeping Pacific views, Pelican Hill will undergo an extensive transformation. Plans include reimagined Bungalows and Villas, enhancements to its Tom Fazio-designed golf courses, and the introduction of a chef-led culinary destination, a signature bar and lobby, and new programming inspired by regional culture. Rituals such as Afternoon Tea and Sabrage will be interpreted through a California lens, alongside a renewed Coliseum Pool and an elevated Villa Clubhouse to support longer stays.
George Fleck, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader for St. Regis, described the new expression as an evolution of the brand’s heritage, designed to meet a modern appetite for soulful destinations that feel both grounded and grand. Pelican Hill General Manager Kevin Kelly said the resort is honored to serve as the inaugural estate, noting that the evolution celebrates its long-standing identity as a sanctuary shaped by natural beauty, art and gastronomy.
