San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to host the “Aviation Climate Action Accelerator” event at Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco

Airport convenes “Aviation Climate Action Accelerator” to lead carbon reduction in air transportation

SAN FRANCISCO, California, 2018-Sep-14 — /Travel PR News/ — The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) announced an event for aviation industry partners and delegates during the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco. The “Aviation Climate Action Accelerator”, to be held on Friday, September 14th at the Contemporary Jewish Museum, will seek to highlight existing initiatives and drive further carbon reduction in air transportation. This event will showcase and discuss climate-leading policies and projects in the aviation industry, including infrastructure and airport development projects, transportation and transit enhancements, and aircraft design and manufacturing improvements.

The Aviation Climate Action Accelerator will feature a facilitated panel dialogue between airports, airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and non-profit thought leaders. Each sector will describe how their organizations are engaging in pragmatic climate solutions. The session was organized in partnership with Los Angeles, Seattle-Tacoma, and San Diego Airports; United Airlines and Alaska Airlines, fuel provider Neste, industry advocate Airports Council International; and non-government organizations including ClimateWorks, the NextGen Policy Center, Rocky Mountain Institute, and Noyes Law Corporation.

“As an industry leader in sustainability efforts, SFO is proud to host the Aviation Climate Action Accelerator during the Global Climate Action Summit,” said Airport Director Ivar C. Satero. “This forum expands the climate action dialogue throughout all sectors of our industry, sharing best practices and setting stretch goals to achieve never-before seen levels of sustainability in air transportation.”

The goals of the Global Climate Action Summit are to share and celebrate current achievements and to make additional commitments to usher in an era of decarbonization and greater levels of sustainability. Businesses, governments, non-government organizations, academic institutions, and others are hosting Affiliate Events to create additional venues for exploring climate challenges and solutions that complement Summit activities, each offering unique perspectives on how their organizations are engaging in pragmatic climate action at a critical moment in the history of our planet. Friday’s Climate Action Accelerator seeks to offer this platform for drive delegates to recognize the importance aviation has in achieving emissions reductions in California, in the U.S. and around the world.
