CHICAGO, 2013-06-20 — /travelprnews.com/ — Calling all runners and walkers – get your gear ready and prepare for takeoff!
On September 15, the nation’s busiest square mile will get even busier when Midway International Airport hosts its first-ever 5K run on the airfield. People of all ages, including runners, walkers, and aviation enthusiasts, are invited to experience Chicago Midway’s airfield up-close and personal.
The inaugural Midway Fly Away 5k will take place on Sunday, September 15 at 8 a.m. Registration is now open. The $35 registration fee includes an official event t-shirt. Proceeds from the run will benefit Special Olympics Chicago. Click here for more details about the event and to register.
Participants will see planes lifting off and landing, get an inside look at Southwest Airlines’ hangar and experience many other unique sights and sounds as they circle Midway’s busy airfield. Bring a camera because once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities will abound.
All registered runners who drop their raffle ticket (attached to their bib) into the bowl on race day will be entered into a drawing to win two round trip tickets from Southwest Airlines to fly anywhere in the continental United States. You must be at least 18 years of age to win.
