Radisson Hotel Group opens Radisson RED Oslo City Centre as one of the world’s first Verified Net Zero hotels
(NEWS) BRUSSELS/ OSLO, 2025-Aug-19 — /Travel PR News/ — Radisson Hotel Group has officially opened Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, A Verified Net Zero Hotel, marking a major step forward in sustainable hospitality and placing Oslo at the forefront of climate-conscious travel. The new property is one of the first two hotels worldwide to achieve Verified Net Zero status, verified by independent body TÜV Rheinland, and already meets the 2040 requirements of the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels. Following a complete transformation of the former Park Inn by Radisson, the hotel now offers 118 redesigned guest rooms, bold social spaces, six flexible meeting rooms, a renovated gym, and a contemporary restaurant and bar infused with Radisson RED’s playful take on Scandinavian design.

Located in the heart of Oslo, just steps from the city’s landmarks including the Opera House, Munch Museum, and Royal Palace Gardens, the hotel combines lifestyle-driven hospitality with a firm commitment to sustainability. Its Verified Net Zero status is reflected in initiatives such as 100% renewable energy, low-carbon menus developed with partner Klimato, and comprehensive waste reduction practices. The hotel eliminates Scope 1 and 2 emissions while significantly reducing Scope 3 emissions in areas like food and beverage, laundry, and waste management. Remaining emissions are offset with carbon removal certificates supporting regenerative farming projects across Europe.
Radisson Hotel Group leaders highlighted the significance of converting existing buildings to Net Zero, stressing that most of the infrastructure needed to reach 2050 climate goals is already built. Inge Huijbrechts, Chief Sustainability & Security Officer, said the Oslo opening demonstrates that Net Zero conversions are not only possible but essential. Tom Flanagan Karttunen, COO for Leased Hotels, added that the property represents a new standard in responsible stays, combining comfort, style, and memorable guest experiences with a reduced environmental impact.
Another Verified Net Zero Hotel within Radisson Hotel Group is Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre, formerly Park Inn by Radisson, which has reopened earlier this year following an extensive renovation completed in May 2025. The hotel now operates fully on renewable energy, using technologies such as heat pumps and induction cooking to eliminate gas use, while also introducing low-carbon menus in partnership with Klimato and comprehensive waste reduction initiatives. Featuring 252 modern guest rooms, a spa, heated indoor pool, sauna, gym, and event facilities for up to 220 people, the centrally located hotel offers guests a sustainable yet stylish stay near Manchester Victoria station and the AO Arena.
Following the group’s first Verified Net Zero property in Manchester the Oslo hotel confirms Radisson’s role as a pioneer in sustainable travel and its commitment to reaching Net Zero by 2050.
