Jack London Square’s biggest food event of the year is this weekend
Oakland, Calif., 2019-Sep-19 — /Travel PR News/ — The annual Eat Real Festival returns to the Port of Oakland’s Jack London Square for two days of feasting on specialty foods. Tens of thousands of visitors will attend this year’s largest event at the Oakland waterfront. The festival is family-friendly and features cooking demonstrations by Bay Area chefs, local food vendors, music and a kid’s zone. Admission is free with food and beverages available for purchase.
“Everybody is welcome to come to the huge street party to celebrate good food and enjoy the free entertainment at Jack London Square,” said Port of Oakland Commercial Real Estate Director Pamela Kershaw. “We’re delighted that the public can savor the festival offerings in this beautiful setting at the Port’s waterfront.” Port of Oakland is one of Eat Real’s sponsors.
Festival organizers say the food items incorporate regionally-sourced and sustainably-produced ingredients. Visitors can also learn where food comes from, who grows it and how to make it.
Eat Real Festival schedule:
- Saturday 11m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Eat Real Festival works with street-food truck and cart vendors who serve a wide array of food including tacos, BBQ, falafel, salads, curry, grilled meats and vegetables and noodles. There is space devoted to local food crafters like cheese makers, butchers and picklers. A portion of this year’s festival proceeds will benefit the Food Craft Institute.
Jack London Square venues will also be open during the festival. Restaurants with outdoor dining are pet-friendly.
There are more than 55 free public events at Jack London Square during the year. Go here to see all the activities at the Oakland waterfront.
