(PRESS RELEASE) HONG KONG, 2025-May-26 — /Travel PR News/ — Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is set to begin the phased opening of its expanded Terminal 2 (T2) on September 23, 2025, with the indoor Coach Hall being the first passenger facility to open. The Coach Hall will provide 41 parking spaces for tour buses, cross-boundary coaches, limousines, and resident coaches, supporting the airport’s growing passenger traffic needs.

As part of the new facility’s operational shift, ticketing counters and boarding points for cross-boundary coaches and limousines, currently located at Terminal 1 and Car Park 4, will be relocated to the new Coach Hall. Additionally, the tour bus boarding spaces currently in Car Park 1 will be moved to T2, which will help relieve congestion at Terminal 1 during peak travel times. These adjustments are part of an ongoing effort to improve the flow of traffic across the airport.

Following the opening of the Coach Hall, the next phase of T2 will include the introduction of departure facilities, including check-in counters and related services, set to open in the early part of Q2 2026. Other facilities will be gradually introduced in the coming phases to ensure seamless service for travelers.

The Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) is working closely with government departments, airlines, passenger handling agents, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth commissioning of the expanded T2. This includes ongoing training and familiarization exercises, along with drills to practice contingency and emergency response protocols.

The expanded T2 will offer full-service passenger facilities for both arrivals and departures, helping to manage the increasing demand driven by the 3RS (Three-Runway System) operation, which commenced in November 2024. AAHK has been collaborating with business partners to prepare for the phased commissioning of T2’s facilities in response to growing passenger traffic needs.
