Headlining the event is the acclaimed Italian flautist Andrea Griminelli, whose illustrious career spanning over 35 years has earned him international acclaim and numerous awards, including a Grammy and an Italian Knighthood. Returning as the Musical Director, Griminelli’s performance pays tribute to Pavarotti’s historic concert on the island, promising to evoke emotion and awe in equal measure.
Joining Griminelli are a stellar line-up of award-winning performers, including:
- Laura Wright, a renowned mezzo-soprano, has graced high-profile events worldwide, including performances for Her Majesty the late Queen Elizabeth II. Notable for writing the anthem “Invincible” for The Invictus Games, Laura has performed it at various prestigious ceremonies. Since winning BBC Chorister of the Year at the age of 15, she has become one of the decade’s top-selling artists and is currently working on her 7th album.
- Cathy-Di Zhang, an award-winning soprano and Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, completed her studies there on a full scholarship. Returning to Australia in 2020, she has since performed with top Australian companies, debuting in multiple roles including for Opera Australia and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Previous roles include Zerlina in “Don Giovanni” and Mimi in “La Bohème”. She has also appeared internationally and participated in prestigious festivals.
- John Longmuir, a celebrated tenor from Edinburgh, Scotland, trained at the Australian Opera Studio and has won prestigious awards including the Herald-Sun Aria and the Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award. Notable for his role in Berg’s “Wozzeck”, he has performed over 500 times for Opera Australia in various roles. Longmuir has also made significant appearances on the concert stage, collaborating with renowned orchestras worldwide. Additionally, he served as a judge on channel Seven’s “All Together Now”.
