Finger sandwiches, baked pastries and tea cakes, and the finest selection of teas.
2013-01-21 — /travelprnews.com/ — For a few hours everyday, the daily ritual of the Afternoon Tea brings time to a pleasurable standstill in The Bar and Alfresco at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore. Afternoon Tea acolytes will find the new tea menu a convivial way to enjoy a tete-a-tete, especially when a mouth-watering selection beckons from the time-honoured three-tier stand.
Fresh finger sandwiches are always a staple and the equally tempting servings will get the conversation off to a lively start, including: Maine lobster salad with citrus in mini pumpkin rolls; roasted chicken salad with flat parsley in a sable tart; Japanese cucumber with sour cream on whole meal; organic smoked salmon with herb cream on multi-grain; and egg salad on white bread.
Elegantly presented, the tier of freshly baked pastries and tea cakes is a colourful assortment of Manjari chocolate-bergamot whoopie pie, green tea-azuki bean trifle, roasted persimmon crumble, and blackcurrant candied violets macaron. Topping the afternoon’s enjoyment is a range of brown sugar shortbreads, tea cakes and golden raisin scones – particularly when the latter are savoured with homemade rose petal-strawberry preserve, lemon curd and Devonshire clotted organic cream.
An assortment of TWG teas provides a complementary accompaniment, be it Earl Grey Buddha, Spice Route, Jade of Africa or the Nuwara Eliya Op from the lofty plantations in Sri Lanka. Alternatively, coffee connoisseurs may order an Illy espresso.
Prices are as follows:
- Classic Afternoon Tea: SGD 38.00 per person (served with a choice of TWG tea or Illy espresso)
