CHICAGO, 2012-07-23 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) is proud to announce that Midway International Airport completed its annual inspection by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for airfield safety with no violations – a perfect score!
This annual inspection judges an airport’s compliance with Federal Aviation Regulation Part 139, which addresses airfield operations including pavement, signage, lighting, markings, inspection reports, fueling operations and emergency response and preparedness. For the last 15 years, Midway has achieved no discrepancies – a perfect score – for 12 out of the last 15 inspections.
“Midway has had an impressive record with its annual FAA inspections of airfield operations,” said CDA Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino. “I want to thank the entire Midway team for doing such an exemplary job with this inspection.”
The safety and security of Chicago’s airports are the Chicago Department of Aviation’s (CDA) highest priority. Midway and O’Hare International Airports continually meet FAA safety guidelines and standards routinely monitored during FAA safety inspections.
Midway is a vibrant airport that was named “fastest growing” in the U.S. by anna.aero.com in 2011. Indeed, Midway continues to experience steady passenger traffic growth. Through May 2012, passenger activity was up nearly 4 percent over the same period a year ago.
