Melbourne’s Windsor Hotel puts fine a la carte breakfast dining back on the menu

Fine Breakfast Dining Now on the Table at Melbourne’s Windsor Hotel

2013-05-14 — /travelprnews.com/ — As well as continuing with its elegant Continental breakfast buffet, the Windsor is now offering a full breakfast menu at its 111 Spring Street Restaurant, with options ranging from the healthy to the indulgent.

Choose from dishes such as oatmeal porridge with honey, banana, dates and pecans, Lyonnaise sausage with homemade pickles or French Toast with hazelnut mascarpone and orange. There is also the classic Eggs Benedict and the hearty Windsor Breakfast, with eggs any style, thick cut bacon, Portobello mushroom and roast tomato.

A range of freshly squeezed juices, gourmet coffee and, of course, the Windsor’s specialty tea blends are available to complement both the Continental and a la carte options.

“A delicious breakfast with a wonderful coffee or pot of tea delivered to your table at one of Melbourne’s loveliest restaurants is a great, productive way to start the day,” Windsor CEO David Perry said.

“We’ve been seeing growing demand for fine dining breakfast, particularly from business people who see it as a very cost-efficient and effective alternative to the traditional business lunch. These days it can be far more productive way of catching up with business colleagues than having to tear yourself away from office and email demands in the middle of the day and, of course, it’s a very healthy way to start the day.”

Mr Perry said the traditional hot breakfast buffet served at most hotels was increasingly inappropriate.

“It is usually ignored by guests and certainly isn’t an option for people looking for quality, value, fresh and healthy food and service standards that allow them to have a business conversation or simply gear up for the day ahead,” he said.

A la carte breakfast is served Monday to Friday from 6.30 am and from 7 am on weekends and public holidays. For bookings or further information contact the Hotel Windsor on 03 9633 6004 or visit www.thehotelwindsor.com.au.

The Windsor is one of the world’s oldest Grand hotels and celebrates its 130th anniversary in 2013.  Built in 1883, the 180-room Hotel Windsor pre-dates the Savoy in London, which was built in 1889, the Waldorf Astoria in New York which dates back to 1893, and the Ritz Paris which opened in 1898.
