(PRESS RELEASE) CALGARY, 2025-Jul-4 — /Travel PR News/ — Marriott International, in collaboration with Calgary’s Truman and Louson joint-venture partners, today unveiled plans for three distinct hotel experiences—and one landmark residential offering—in the heart of Calgary’s emerging Culture + Entertainment District. The upcoming development comprises W Calgary, JW Marriott Calgary, and an Autograph Collection Hotel on Stampede Park, each set to redefine urban hospitality and luxury living.

W Calgary, rising 69 stories at 15 Avenue and Macleod Trail S.E., will debut in 2028 with 157 guest rooms (including 27 suites) and 239 branded residences. Guests can indulge in a 7,500 sq ft AWAY Spa, the signature Living Room lounge, a rooftop bar, FIT studio, specialty dining venue, and over 16,000 sq ft of flexible event space. Residents will enjoy exclusive access and a private entryway.

Slated for 2029, JW Marriott Calgary will occupy a 62-story tower featuring 248 rooms alongside 120 branded residences. Designed around the brand’s dedication to well-being, the property will offer indoor and outdoor pools, a serene JW Garden, JW Market dining, a curated retail promenade, and 32,500 sq ft of meeting facilities.

The third pillar of the project is a 320-key Autograph Collection Hotel at Stampede Park—name forthcoming—expected in 2030. This full-service property will showcase 15,000 sq ft of event space, 14,000 sq ft of food and beverage outlets including multiple restaurants, a lobby bar, coffee shop, rooftop lounge, terrace pool and jacuzzi, plus a fitness club and indoor pool.

“These hotels represent a significant investment in Calgary’s downtown revitalization,” said Tony Trutina, Truman’s Chief Operating Officer. “They will create thousands of construction jobs, generate enduring employment, boost tourism, and strengthen local businesses—underscoring our commitment to Calgary’s growth.”

Paul Cahill, COO Canada for Marriott International, added, “By introducing W, JW Marriott, and Autograph Collection properties here, we’re bringing world-class hospitality to a vibrant market. Partnering with Truman and Louson—who know Calgary intimately—ensures these brands will resonate deeply with both leisure and business travelers.”

These three properties, together with nearly 360 residences, represent over $1.47 billion in private investment, support more than 9,100 construction roles, and will sustain upwards of 2,000 ongoing jobs in operations and tourism. As cornerstones of CMLC’s Rivers District Master Plan, they will bolster Calgary’s capacity to host conventions, major events, and support venues like the expanded BMO Centre and future Scotia Place.

“Public and private collaboration is bringing our Culture + Entertainment District vision to life,” noted Kate Thompson, President and CEO of Calgary Municipal Land Corporation. “These hotels will enrich our downtown streetscape and meet growing demand for premium accommodations.”

Joel Cowley, CEO of the Calgary Stampede, emphasized the impact on Stampede Park: “The Autograph Collection Hotel will elevate our event-hosting capabilities, adding a new dimension of western hospitality to convention and tourism offerings.”
