(PRESS RELEASE) SERENGETI, Tanzania, 2025-Apr-30 — /Travel PR News/ — Marriott International, Inc. has announced its plans to debut the first-ever Autograph Collection safari camp, marking a major expansion into experiential, nature-based travel. Mapito Safari Camp, Serengeti, Autograph Collection is set to open in Q3 2025 and will offer an immersive safari experience in the heart of Tanzania’s world-renowned Serengeti wilderness.
Located near the Fort Ikoma gate of Serengeti National Park, the camp is positioned between Central Serengeti and the western migration corridor, directly along the Great Migration route. Every year, between May and July, vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and antelope travel through the area, offering guests a front-row seat to one of the world’s most incredible natural spectacles. The region is also home to a wide variety of wildlife year-round, including lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and giraffe, ensuring guests enjoy extraordinary encounters across all seasons.
Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer for Europe, Middle East & Africa at Marriott International, commented, “Mapito Safari Camp represents a pivotal moment for Autograph Collection as we introduce the brand’s first-ever safari experience in one of the world’s most stunning wildlife destinations. The Serengeti’s vast beauty and rich cultural heritage will provide the perfect backdrop for a property that will embrace the individuality and charm that Autograph Collection is known for.”
Mapito Safari Camp, Serengeti, Autograph Collection will feature 16 tented suites, including a two-bedroom villa. Each suite will come equipped with an outdoor deck, fire pit, and a retractable roof for open-air stargazing – a first for the region. The camp’s amenities will include a spa, fitness center, swimming pool, and several dining options, such as ‘The Boma’, a communal restaurant inspired by traditional bonfire gatherings.
The design of the camp will draw inspiration from the surrounding Serengeti landscape and local Ikoma culture, while ensuring sustainable practices that support conservation and minimize environmental impact.
Guests can look forward to a range of immersive activities, including daytime game drives, night safaris to explore the Serengeti’s nocturnal rhythms, walking safaris, hot air balloon flights, bush dining, and meaningful interactions with the Ikoma tribe.
Rishen Patel, the developer of Mapito Safari Camp, stated, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Marriott International to bring Autograph Collection to the Serengeti. This camp will provide an intimate, immersive experience that reflects both the natural beauty of the region and the craftsmanship and storytelling traditions that define the Autograph Collection brand.”
