Manchester, UK, 2022-Jan-26 — /Travel PR News/ — Manchester Airport’s Runway Visitor Park (RVP) has announced that its successful Flight Academy programme for 4-12-year-olds will be returning this February half-term.

Bookings are now being taken for sessions between Wednesday 16th February and Friday 25th February, ensuring that children from across the wider region (where February half-term is staggered across two weeks) are able to enjoy the experience.

The Flight Academy sessions are split into two age groups – one for children aged 4-7 years and another for those aged 8-12 – and a ticket for one adult and one child costs just £10, with parking available to those taking part for the full day at the reduced rate of £5.

The 90-minute sessions give children the opportunity to learn about the different job roles that help ensure Manchester Airport remains in action throughout the year. The first part of the session takes place aboard a retired DC10 airliner where youngsters sit in the cockpit, learn about roles as varied as cabin crew and ground operators, and ‘take control’ of the flight deck.

They then head outside to have a look at Manchester Airport’s runways, watch planes taking off and landing and see some of the various jobs that they’ve learnt about in action.

After the session, visiting families are welcome to take their time enjoying the RVP’s acclaimed facilities, including stunning views over the airfield. Sights to see include watching aircraft such as the giant A380 coming and going at close quarters, taking in a tour of the Park’s retired airliners including the iconic Concorde, and making use of a play area and on-site café. Attractions cater to everyone from casual visitors to aviation enthusiasts.

On Wednesday 16th February and Thursday 24th February, ‘Midweek Madness’ short tours of the legendary Concorde are also available from just £5pp. This 20-minute tour will give visitors the opportunity to sit in the luxurious leather seats where royalty & celebrities once sat, whilst discovering the history of this unique and innovative aircraft. The classic hour-long Concorde tour is also available from £16pp and includes a visit to the flight deck.

Robert Hassard, Runway Visitor Park Manager, said: “The Flight Academy programme has been running for many years now and is back by popular demand this February half-term.

“This is a unique family experience that has inspired many youngsters to consider a career in aviation. The RVP offers a great value day out for visitors of all ages.”

Guests can book tours and experiences online via the RVP’s website and are encouraged to visit the What’s On page for guidelines, terms, and conditions before booking.
