Maldives wins 32 awards at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2019
Male, Maldives, 2019-Sep-24 — /Travel PR News/ — Maldives has bagged 32 awards at the biggest travel and tourism award in the region; South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2019. This year’s event was held at Amari Galle Hotel from 19-20 September.
There were 500 nominations in 112 categories in this year’s SATA, including the visitor’s choice category. Maldives won the Visitor’s Choice Awards for Leading Beach Destination, Leading Honeymoon Destination, Leading Surf Destination.
The Visitor’s Choice Awards for Maldives were received by the Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed. The Visitor’s Choice Award for Leading Airport Lounge was won by Lily Lounge, Velana International Airport.
India won 31 awards at the ceremony while the host country Sri Lanka won 20. In addition to the awards ceremony, this year’s SATA event included panel discussions among the stakeholders of the South Asian tourism industry. The topics of discussion were on opportunities to market the regional tourism and challenges to overcome. The hoteliers gave insightful input throughout the discussions.
