2013-02-11 — /travelprnews.com/ — Maldives is currently showcasing its sunny side of life in the Indian market at OTM. Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) which started on the 8 th of Feb is One of India’s leading b2b and consumer focused travel show.
Together with 12 companies from the Maldivian travel industry MMPRC has taken up a stand of 60sqm in this year’s show.Maldives is among the Feature Countries in the show. Many business networking sessions with Indian agents were conducted during the first two days. The last day is focused for the consumers. The 3 day travel show ends today (10th Feb).
OTM is considered to be one of the leading travel trade show, over 900 exhibitors from 26 countries and all over india partcipated in this year’s show. The host city, Mumbai is the largest travel market in the country, generating one third (33%) of india out bound travellers. It’s tourists are also the highest spenders, according to a survey done by OTM organizers.
India is an emerging market with a strong economy. More than12 million indians travel overseas annually and is a projected growth of 12-13% per year till 2015. . By 2020 it is expected over 50 million indian tourists to travel abroad on their holidays.
Maldives is becoming a popular destination for honeymooners in the Indian market too.
By the end of last year Maldives received a total of 31721 tourists from India which is an increase of 2.4% compared to 2011. Now with additional flights between the countries the number is expected to increase.
