Lufthansa Technik creates new jobs with its expansion in Budapest Airport

2013-07-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — Lufthansa Technik Budapest increases its operational area by leasing further 2 000 sq meters of warehouse space from Budapest Airport. By this move the major German aircraft maintenance company will be able to increase its operations in Budapest in order to cope with the increasing business demand. In connection with this Lufthansa Technik will be able increase its workforce in Budapest by almost 10 %.

Lufthansa Technik Budapest has signed today an agreement with Budapest Airport about leasing further 2 000 sq meters of warehouse space for seven years plus optional 5 years. Lufthansa Technik is present for over a decade in Budapest operating a major aircraft maintenance and overhaul operation which includes the full range of services from line maintenance to major overhaul of aircraft, the so-called D-check. Lufthansa Technik in Budapest is the exclusive service-provider besides its mother-company Lufthansa to major airlines like Wizz Air, Germanwings and Norwegian.
Budapest Airport also supports the increase of operations of Lufthansa Technik by investing more than a million Euros into the warehouse space allocated for LHT. With re-organizing the warehouse and workshop area Lufthansa Technik may not only answer to increasing business demand but can also offer new jobs to no less than 15 freshly graduated aircraft technicians which has not happened for years at the airport. With this move Lufthansa Technik increases its Budapest workforce by almost 10 %.
“We are eager to move into the warehouse facilities before the high season of aircraft maintenance begins in Budapest.” said Elmar Lutter, CEO of Lufthansa Technik Budapest. He added: “We have been present in Budapest for over 12 years now and I see further prospects for business development here.”

“We see a reliable and long-term partner in Lufthansa Technik at Budapest Airport.” explained René Droese, Property Director of Budapest Airport. He said: “This new lease agreement signed for the coming years helps our customer, Lufthansa Technik to expand its business and it is always a welcome sign for us meaning that they are confident about the aviation market here. We are sure that we can support their development plans for the future, it is good for our airlines, for the airport and it increases demand for highly qualified labor force in the Southern Budapest region.”
