(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 2025-Apr-7 — /Travel PR News/ — Kenya Airways has taken a groundbreaking step by becoming the first airline in sub-Saharan Africa to distribute NDC-sourced content through the Amadeus Travel Platform. This innovative deployment means that travel sellers in Kenya, South Africa, and the United Kingdom will soon be able to access advanced, dynamic content from one of the region’s most forward-thinking carriers.
This milestone follows Kenya Airways’ strategic decision to adopt Altéa NDC, a move designed to streamline and enhance the distribution of new content and fares across multiple channels. By integrating Altéa NDC with the Amadeus Travel Platform, the airline is set to reduce time-to-market, boost productivity, and significantly elevate its retailing capabilities. In essence, travel agents connected to Amadeus will be among the first to build customized travel offers using Kenya Airways’ full NDC content suite once the system is fully implemented.
Julius Thairu, Chief Commercial and Customer Officer at Kenya Airways, stated, “This is a significant milestone for Kenya Airways as we continue to innovate and enhance our travel retailing capabilities. Amadeus has been at the forefront of driving NDC adoption across the global travel ecosystem and was therefore the natural choice for this step on our distribution journey. We are very happy to be able to offer our full range of NDC content through Amadeus’ leading technology and to its travel sellers’ network.”
Echoing this sentiment, Christophe Roux, SVP Airlines for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa at Amadeus, remarked, “Kenya Airways was among the first airlines in Africa to recognize the transformative potential of NDC technology, and it’s a pleasure to see that vision come to fruition. With Kenya Airways’ NDC content now live on the Amadeus Travel Platform, the airline is positioned to reach a global network of travel sellers, enabling them to create tailored and personalized offers that meet the evolving demands of today’s travelers.”
Kenya Airways, known as The Pride of Africa, is a leading carrier connecting 44 destinations worldwide—including 36 within Africa—and facilitating travel for over 5 million passengers and 70,000 tons of cargo annually through its hub at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
