2012-10-17 — /travelprnews.com/ — Five of the Jersey Academy of Music’s most promising students are getting together to perform a showcase of their favourite pieces.
The mini-concert will take place in Grand Jersey’s dedicated business centre ‘Park Suites’, on Sunday 21st October at 12 noon before the start of Sunday Brunch service. The event launches a new Grand Jersey initiative to give talented young instrumentalists experience of performing in an encouraging environment to positive, warm audiences.
The students are all between 10 and 14 years of age and will present a 25-minute recital of music, accompanied by teachers Emmanuelle Dumas and Chris George. Iona Russell will play both the cello and piano, with Zaki McGarragle performing on the violin. Brothers Jamie and Alex Robinson will both play the piano, with Charlotte Perchard on the cello. The programme will range from classical works by Tchaikovsky and Grieg to jazz pieces by Gershwin.
Chris George, director of Jersey Academy of Music, said, “We are delighted to be working with Grand Jersey on this event, as it will provide a lovely platform for our talented young musicians to showcase their skills to a receptive audience and really help to build their confidence. You can’t beat a Sunday lunchtime of fine food and fine music!”
Eamonn Eliott, general manager at Grand Jersey, added “We are very much looking forward to welcoming the students to Grand Jersey on Sunday. The Park Suites are perfect, flexible art spaces and who better to make use of them than the Island’s up and coming musical talent. For anyone wishing to join us to enjoy the performance, entrance is free. Seating is limited but there is plenty of standing room”.
