2012-11-28 — /travelprnews.com/ — In the busy Christmas period, when the competition between retailers to attract the avid shopper is never more evident, there is nothing more important than the Christmas shop window. For the second year running, all St Helier retailers will be asked to dress to impress!!
Window display competition
From the 1st until 19th December, members of the public will be encouraged to take a photo of their favourite display.
The winner will not be the biggest, or the retailer that has spent the most money on his/her display. The winner will be chosen by the best use of the window size available to them. In other words, the judges will be looking for the most innovative and unique display! We all know that St Helier retailers are a creative bunch, and now is their opportunity to prove it. The decision will be undertaken by a selected panel of key personnel, including Connetable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft, David Warr, President of The Jersey Chamber of Commerce, a representative of the JEP.
The winning shop will be announced on Thursday 20th December during the highly popular late night Christmas shopping evening. Spencer Davies, from Channel 103, will be hosting the award ceremony; the winning retailer will be the recipient of an engraved trophy to display proudly within their premises, as well as an amazing prize. There will also be a 2nd and 3rd place…
All stores will have posters contained within their window display, and the public will be encouraged to send their photos. The entry forms can be found with our official sponsors Jersey Evening Post, Jersey Tourism, the Parish of St Helier, Cimandis who are agents for Coca-Cola Channel Islands, and throughout the town shops, online, Facebook and Twitter. ”Vote and Win” 5 entries will be chosen and will win a fabulous prize too.
Simon Crowcroft, Connetable of St Helier said, “I applaud this exciting and fun initiative. As well as encouraging all retailers to participate and make this Christmas really special, I am delighted that the organiser has had the forethought to ensure a local charity also benefits from this”.
This event is a great opportunity, to keep the community motivated about the local retailers and reinforce the message to “Buy Local”.
All profits go to the Teenage Cancer Trust, Jersey Appeal.
