MESA, Ariz. — 2012-11-30 — /travelprnews.com/ — Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport has named Jane Morris as its new Director of Special Projects – a new position primarily responsible for leading efforts in the planning and execution of the visionary Gateway 2030 plan. Gateway 2030 is a cost feasible phasing plan to develop approximately 700 acres of Airport property which will include the design and construction of the next passenger terminal facility and supporting infrastructure.
“Gateway Airport is one of the fastest growing airports in the country,” said Lynn Kusy, executive director of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. “Now is the time to prepare the Airport for the next 20 years of growth. Jane Morris is a highly qualified aviation executive that will be charged with executing the Gateway 2030 plan that will position the Airport to do more than simply accommodate passenger service demand but create an economically efficient business climate that will provide access to the global resources desired of a knowledge-based economy.”
About Jane Morris
Jane Morris retired in June 2012 from a 28-year career with the City of Phoenix, and completed her career with the City as a Deputy City Manager. During her career with Phoenix, Jane worked in numerous City departments primarily with the planning, design, construction and operation of public facilities. For seven years, Jane held various leadership roles at Sky Harbor International Airport including Assistant Aviation Director and Deputy Director of Planning and Environmental Services.
Notable aviation projects that benefited from Jane’s leadership included: The PHX Sky Train, In-line Baggage Handling System, Rental Car Center, parking facility improvements, two general aviation airport master plans, and numerous airfield projects. Jane’s non-aviation experience has included Assistant Economic Development Director, Downtown Development Administrator and Special Project Administrator. Jane was the lead for the new Phoenix City Hall development program and the initial conceptual planning lead for expansion of the Phoenix Convention Center.
Jane received her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and was a two time co-captain of the Women’s Varsity Field Hockey Team. She holds a Masters in Public Administration from Arizona State University. Jane also holds the prestigious Accredited Airport Executive certification from the American Association of Airport Executives.
Jane and her husband have lived in Mesa for over 14 years and have two adult children.
