(PRESS RELEASE) TOKYO, 2025-Apr-30 — /Travel PR News/ — IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has announced a partnership with Minami Nijo Operations, a wholly-owned subsidiary of World Brands Collection Hotels & Resorts, to open the Holiday Inn & Suites Sapporo Odori Park in late 2025. The 195-room hotel will be owned by a fund managed by Goldman Sachs and marks the second Holiday Inn & Suites property in Japan, further strengthening IHG’s presence in the country.

The Holiday Inn & Suites Sapporo Odori Park will undergo an extensive renovation, enhancing the guest experience with updated guest rooms, the addition of a new gym, and the introduction of a lobby café as part of the Holiday Inn Open Lobby concept. This flexible space will allow guests to choose how they connect, relax, and work in a design-forward setting.

Located in the heart of Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido, the hotel will be ideally situated near Tanukikoji Shopping Street and Odori Park, a popular venue for year-round events such as the annual Sapporo Snow Festival. The hotel will serve both international and domestic travelers, offering modern accommodations, a gym, meeting spaces, a restaurant, and a large public bath on an upper floor of the property.

Abhijay Sandilya, CEO of IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan and Managing Director of IHG Hotels & Resorts Japan & Micronesia, commented, “We are excited to partner with World Brands Collection Hotels & Resorts and Goldman Sachs to bring the Holiday Inn & Suites brand to the heart of Sapporo. This partnership will help us deliver an exciting new experience for travelers and further strengthen our Holiday Inn brand presence across Japan, with more hotels planned for opening this year.”

He added, “2025 is shaping up to be a record year for the Holiday Inn brand in Japan. With the return of the brand to Kyoto and the planned opening of several more hotels across the country, including Tokyo, we continue to expand the brand’s footprint in key locations that attract both business and leisure travelers.”

Hiroshi Komoto, Representative Director and President of World Brands Collection Hotels & Resorts, said: “Following our successful collaboration with IHG on the debut of Six Senses in Japan, we are thrilled to expand our partnership into the Holiday Inn segment and bring this globally recognized brand to Sapporo. The Holiday Inn & Suites Sapporo Odori Park will offer a trusted, welcoming experience for travelers to explore the beauty of Hokkaido.”

Holiday Inn & Suites Sapporo Odori Park will offer a choice of rooms and suites designed for both leisure and business travelers. In addition to the comprehensive meeting facilities and the gym, guests will enjoy a restaurant and an upper-floor public bath, providing a unique, relaxing experience.

Hokkaido continues to see significant growth in international tourism, with a 40% increase in international travelers in 2024 compared to 2019. With rising international flight numbers, the opening of Holiday Inn & Suites Sapporo Odori Park comes at a time of increasing demand for high-quality accommodations in the region.

IHG currently operates five hotels across Hokkaido under Vignette Collection, Crowne Plaza, and Holiday Inn brands, and will debut the InterContinental brand in the region with the upcoming opening of InterContinental Sapporo later this year.
