Holidays Are Extra Sweet At ZooAmerica

ZooAmerica Offers Guests Discounts and Special Programming During the Holiday Season 

Hershey, Pa. – 2012-11-16 — /travelprnews.com/ — ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park enjoys cooler temperatures for two reasons – guests see greater activity in its animals and it’s a sign that the holiday season is near. During the most wonderful time of the year, visitors to ZooAmerica can enjoy:

“$5 Fridays”
In the spirit of giving, ZooAmerica offers its guests “$5 Fridays” each Friday from November 16 through March 22. Regular admission to the Zoo costs $10.50 and $8.50 for seniors (ages 55 and older) and juniors (ages 3 to 8). Children 2 and younger are free.

“Reindeer Tales”
Guests can get in the holiday spirit when visiting nine live reindeer at Hersheypark Christmas Candylane.ZooAmerica offers groups of 15 or more an exclusive opportunity to learn about these antlered creatures through “Reindeer Tales.” The program is the perfect opportunity for families, friends, school groups, churches and Scout troops to get the inside scoop about the behaviors and habits of Santa’s loyal sleigh leaders.
“Reindeer Tales” is offered daily from November 24 through December 23, and pre-registration is required. The cost is $4 per group member in addition to the regular ZooAmerica admission fee, or $5.50 per group member for the reindeer program exclusively. “Reindeer Tales” is not available duringHersheypark Christmas Candylane operating hours. (However, the reindeer, which live insideHersheypark throughout the holiday season, can be visited by guests of Hersheypark Christmas Candylane as part of their admission to this seasonal attraction.)

“Wild Winter Adventure”
Children in kindergarten through fifth grade can register for “Wild Winter Adventure,” which will take place on December 27, 28 and 29. “Wild Winter Adventure” is a three-hour program through which children can learn how animals behave and protect themselves during the winter. The program also includes animal encounters and an exploration of ZooAmerica. Participants must pre-register by Wednesday, December 12.

“Wild Treats”
ZooAmerica provides “Wild Treats” to its animals on December 27, 28 and 29 at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. each day. “Wild Treats” – or edible holiday presents – are delivered to featured animals byZooAmerica naturalists.
Animals include American elk, American martens, Canada lynx, and river otters on Thursday; gray wolves, the Zoo’s albino alligator – Sugar – and animals in the nocturnal wing of The Great Southwest region on Friday; and American black bears, bobcats and white-tailed deer on Saturday.
Gifts include everything from festively wrapped tasty treats to edible ornaments or “fishsicles” (fish popsicles).
“Wild Treats” serves as both a special gift to the animals and an enrichment program. These programs are designed to stimulate activity and encourage natural behavior while keeping Zoo residents happy and entertained.
