(PRESS RELEASE) HAMBURG, 2025-May-9 — /Travel PR News/ — Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is offering an exciting new chapter in art and luxury cruising with the launch of its expanded art program aboard the EUROPA 2 during the upcoming summer season in the Mediterranean. Guests can immerse themselves in curated art exhibitions, with renowned galleries rotating on board and offering exclusive opportunities to interact with top artists and experts while at sea. Since the launch of the art2sea voyage format, which concluded successfully last weekend, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is intensifying its focus on bringing world-class art to guests, ensuring that each voyage becomes a cultural journey. This initiative aligns with the line’s mission of offering an emotional and intellectual depth to travel, where art is an integral part of the experience, both visually and experientially.

This summer, the EUROPA 2 will offer curated exhibitions from top-tier galleries during its Mediterranean voyages, showcasing contemporary and modern art. The onboard gallery on Deck 9 will host rotating exhibitions featuring artists and works from established European and international galleries, offering a dynamic cultural experience for art enthusiasts.

Some of the highlighted upcoming exhibitions include:

Bilbao to Barcelona: A collaboration with the Berlin-based Friedmann-Hahn Gallery (July 19–30, 2025), featuring figurative painting, photography, and urban art.

Barcelona to Monte-Carlo: The Commeter Gallery from Hamburg (July 30–Aug 7, 2025), showcasing contemporary art from artists such as Jochen Hein and Maria Ikonomopoulou.

Palma de Mallorca to Civitavecchia: A display by Thole Rotermund Kunsthandel from Berlin, specializing in German Expressionism (Aug 16–25, 2025).

Susanna Kitzl, the Artistic Director at Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, emphasized the growing interest from guests in the theme of art on board, saying, “I am delighted by how open and interested our guests are in the topic of art on board. This is why we will anchor this dimension even more firmly in future voyages, starting with regular gallery owners and artists on our art2sea journeys.”

In addition to the onboard exhibitions, art excursions to renowned museums, studios, and galleries along the voyage routes will be introduced, extending the art experience beyond the ship. This approach seeks to create a platform for dialogue about art while allowing guests to explore the cultural richness of the regions they visit.

Hapag-Lloyd’s expedition ships (HANSEATIC nature, HANSEATIC inspiration, and HANSEATIC spirit) also feature impressive art collections, with approximately 200 works each, focused on themes of nature and the relationship between humans, animals, and the environment. These collections, featuring international artists like Michael Poliza and Mella Shaw, contribute to the permanent exhibition and are part of the emotional and intellectual depth of the expedition experience.
