2013-05-29 — /travelprnews.com/ — Jersey Live Festival returns this summer, supported for the 8th year by headline sponsors JT, for its 10th anniversary event. The past decade has seen huge names including The Prodigy, Kasabian and Snow Patrol perform at Jersey Live, but the 10,000 capacity festival has also had a track record of showcasing young up and coming artists before they have gone on to reach stratospheric heights. The likes of Ed Sheeran, Tinie Tempah and Jake Bugg are just a few of the acts to have performed at the festival on their way to the big time. We are delighted to announce the addition of three young new talents who will no doubt be amongst the highlights of this year’s 10th anniversary celebration.
Performing on the Main Stage on Sunday 1st September is an artist who is certainly one of the most exciting young artists to have emerged in the UK in recent years, the folk sensation that is Gabrielle Aplin. After scoring a number one chart success with her debut single, a cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s ‘The Power of Love’ in December (the track was used in the John Lewis Christmas advertising campaign), Aplin has since gone on to score a second Top Ten single and last week released her debut album English Rain, which debuted at Number Two in the UK album charts. An incredible achievement for a 20 year-old who as recently as 2010 was in the process of building a fan base by uploading videos of her own cover versions of songs (by the likes of Katy Perry and You Me At Six) to Youtube. In fact, her achievements so far belie her young age. Aplin set up Never Fade Records, in order to self-release her first EP in 2010, and having subsequently signed to recording giant Parlophone in 2012, Aplin recently announced that she is now signing other artists to her Never Fade label. She’s also completed six headline UK tours, toured as support to Ed Sheeran, Gotye and Matt Cardle, and appeared at festivals including Glastonbury and Secret Garden Party.
It’s clear that she’s fiercely ambitious, but more importantly, she’s a hugely talented songwriter and performer. With dashes of Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake influences evident in her songwriting, Aplin’s stunning voice and heartfelt lyricism, quietly melancholic moments and rousingly epic anthems are a potent combination. We’re delighted to welcome her to Jersey Live. Also performing over the weekend are live ‘classico-electronic’ group Clean Bandit, who appear on the Main Stage and headline the JT Stage on Saturday 31st August. The four-piece formed in 2009 and scored their breakthrough hit ‘Mozart’s House’ in March this year, reaching Number 17 in the UK singles charts. Featuring a sample of Mozart’s ‘String Quartet No. 21’, it’s been one of the most successful dance tracks of the year, and with a live set up that incorporates saxophone, strings, bass, electronics and live drums, Clean Bandit’s live show is a lively affair indeed. They’re sure to win over new friends and fans at Jersey Live.
Gabrielle Aplin and Clean Bandit join a bill that already includes Fatboy Slim, Example, The Cribs, Bastille, Pete Tong, Netsky and many more, with yet more artists to be added to the festival’s seven stages. Set in the lush countryside surrounds of the Parish of Trinity, Jersey Live is the UK’s southernmost festival and with more sunshine than any other part of the British Isles, and one of the warmest, friendliest festival audiences you could hope to encounter, it’s the perfect festival destination. Keep your eyes peeled for line up announcements, to be made in the coming weeks!

Co-organiser Warren Le Sueur:
“We’re really pleased with the new additions to the Jersey Live lineup, and I’m sure Gabrielle Aplin will come to the festival with a huge following already in place. For those who haven’t heard her yet, I can’t recommend her new album enough – it’s one of the best debut albums I’ve heard in a long time. Clean Bandit and Skip & Die are going to be super too; they’re both so original and both of their sounds are made up of a combination of styles that seems like it shouldn’t work but absolutely does. They’re both amazing fun live and I’m sure they’ll get people dancing! We’ve got many more exciting announcements to make of course, so stay tuned for more news in the next couple of weeks.”
