Hawaii, Lana’i at Manele Bay, U.S.A. 2012-08-13 — /travelprnews.com/ — TriLanai and Four Seasons Resorts Lanai announce the fourth annual TriLanai Offroad Sprint Triathlon, taking place on Saturday, November 3, 2012. TriLanai will provide participants the opportunity to experience the island from a unique perspective rarely offered to the casual visitor or the Hawaii resident. Additionally, three-time TriLanai Triathlon winner Taylor Seavey will offer a complimentary clinic to athletes on Friday, November 2, 2012.
At just 13 miles wide and 18 miles long (21 by 29 kilometres), the island of Lanai is perfectly suited for multi-sport endurance events that challenge the world’s top athletes. With 30 miles (42 kilometres) of paved road and the turquoise blue waters of the Pacific serving as the course, serious competitors and casual triathletes will be inspired and motivated by the pristine surroundings. Participants can also enter either as an individual or relay team. The race begins at 9:30 am with a 750 metre (1/2 mile) open-water swim in Hulopoe Bay, followed by a 17 kilometre (10 mile) incline cycle along Hulopoe Bay’s switchback road and past the La Ola Solar Farm. The final leg of the competition is a 5 kilometre (3.23 mile) race to the finish line across the famed Challenge at Manele golf course.
Athletes are invited to join three-time TriLanai winner and certified triathlon coach Taylor Seavey on Friday, November 2, 2012 for a complimentary triathlon clinic. Seavey will highlight various techniques such as swimming and cycling, transition tips, nutrition and hydration, as well as efficiency and speed. The clinic will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the Resort’s Luau Gardens.
TriLanai is a true community event that commands the collective support and volunteerism of island residents. In return, the event reciprocates by giving back directly to the community with funds raised by the race and awarded to various Lanai based charitable organizations.
Rates for TriLanai start at USD 179.00 per night at The Lodge at Koele and USD 229.00 per night at Manele Bay for dates of stay Thursday, November 1 to Sunday, November 4, 2012. Rates listed are per room, per night and subject to availability. Tax and service charge additional. For reservations, call 800 321 4666 and ask for the TriLanai promotion.
