Opfikon, Switzerland, 2021-Aug-18 — /Travel PR News/ — Flughafen Zürich AG is becoming a member of the United Nations Global Compact, the global network for corporate responsibility. By doing so, it is undertaking to uphold the ten Global Compact principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption.
For many years already, the airport operator has been setting itself sustainability goals, whether in relation to environmental protection or social responsibility. In 2019, for example, the company resolved to target “net zero carbon” by 2050. By joining the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, Flughafen Zürich AG is reinforcing its commitment to sustainable corporate development within its direct sphere of influence.
Joining the Global Compact is the next logical step in our sustainability strategy for Flughafen Zürich AG and its subsidiaries.
Stephan Widrig, CEO of Flughafen Zürich AG
Launched in 2000, the Global Compact combines more than 13,000 members in 162 countries. In line with this global footprint, Flughafen Zürich AG is committing to uphold the ten Global Compact principles not only at its largest site in Zurich, but in particular at its foreign subsidiaries in the course of its international business development. At the same time, Flughafen Zürich AG supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at its sites in Switzerland, India and South America.
