Flight funding returns as Blue Islands continues to back Channel Islanders with travel support for opportunities and enrichment

(NEWS) GUERNSEY, Jersey, 2025-Sep-8 — /Travel PR News/ — Blue Islands has opened applications for its latest round of flight funding, continuing its initiative to support Channel Islanders in pursuing opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach. Since its launch in 2019, the programme has provided more than 500 flights to charities, organisations, and individuals, enabling travel for competitions, training, performances, and community projects. The scheme has already backed athletes such as Archie Greier, Grace Greenwood, and Hannah Silcock, along with groups like Essential Dance and the Guernsey Air Cadets, and charities including Healing Waves, Family First, and Brighter Futures.

CEO Rob Veron described flight funding as one of the airline’s most meaningful contributions, highlighting the inspirational stories of islanders whose achievements enrich communities and strengthen the identity of the islands. The initiative is open to anyone in the Channel Islands whose activities could benefit from travel support, whether in sport, the arts, education, or community development. Applications for this round close on 28 September, with successful applicants to be announced later in the year.

Last year’s round of flight funding saw a record number of applications, with more than 300 free flights worth over £25,000 awarded to islanders pursuing opportunities in sport, charities, and the arts. Among the beneficiaries was 10-year-old Jersey snooker talent Archie Greier, who celebrated his third Cuestars tournament victory and advanced to Silver level competition with support from the programme. His story reflected the broad impact of flight funding, which has helped young athletes, community groups, and charities alike to showcase the dedication, talent, and passion that enrich life across the Channel Islands.
